“KAZBO Initiative” SOZECOM
$22,349 of $1.2 million raised

A project in which rural women are empowered through Agro-waqf means leveraging their expertise in local chicken-rearing. It works by giving chickens and some eggs of guinea fowl. When the chickens start to lay eggs, the eggs are replaced by those of the guinea fowl. When the guinea fowl grows and matures and reaches a certain number, they are sold up to purchase goats; the goats then are sold up to purchase sheep; the chain continues this way until, they purchase cattle which is our target. At this stage, the women have chicken, guinea fowl, some goats, some sheep, and cattle. Any woman who reaches this stage is now considered to be out of poverty.
